After the plane trip we arrived at our hotel in Paddington near Hyde Park. Even though everybody wanted to catch some sleep, we went on a tour through  Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace (although the Queen was not at home), Trafalgar Square and Whitehall. On the way we listened to presentations about the different places and their significance.

On Tuesday we started our second day in London by visiting the Museum of London. In keeping with the title of our "Seminarfach" which is Post-War Britain we were especially interested in the exhibition about London after 1945. After that we used the tube and Docklands Light Railway to go to Greenwich. Surprised by the typical English weather we nevertheless tried to enjoy the great view over the Docklands from the other side of the Thames.

The next day, we had lots of fun. In the morning, we visited the Hindu Temple Bapsshri Swaminarayan. We got an overview of Hinduism today and can summarize that there is a big difference between Indian culture and our Western one. After a lunch-break, we went to a theatre and enjoyed the musical “Billy Elliot“. It was one of the most awesome and breathtaking things we have ever seen and we learned a lot about the living conditions under Thatcher.

On Thursday we started our trip through London with the Rock´n Roll Walk. During this tour a guide told us some interesting information about the history of Rock´n´Roll in London. After this interesting walk we split the class into two groups and went on a  tour through the BBC Television Centre. After this tour we finished our beautiful day with a dinner in a Indian restaurant where everyone was fascinated by the food.

On Friday we visited the "Imperial War Museum". Looking at the exhibition entitled "Conflicts after 1945" we could learn a lot of new facts about the Suez Crises, the Gulf War and the Falklands War. After walking through the museum each student presented a new fact she/he learned about the conflicts we had talked about in the lessons. Afterwards, we had some time to visit parts of London in small groups before we met at the hotel again. Then we took our suitcases and travelled to the airport to board our plan which took us back to Germany.
